Parmabio is a member of "Pro.Ber" which assists the international promotion of organic production in the Emilia Romagna region.

In 1992 the foundations of their company parmabio were laid when Fausto Brugnoli and his wife Marina Carpanini built their dairy farm in the village of Vischeto in Bardi, on land belonging to Fausto's parents. The village sits among the Ceno Valley mountains at 625 metres above sea level - 60 km from the city of Parma, 70 km from Piacenza and 80 km from the coast of Liguria.

Fausto and Marina carefully selected the breeding of about 100 cows with the intention of creating a top-quality herd.
In 2000 Fausto's brothers, sister and nephew Mirko enter ed into co-ownership of the farm in Vischeto and in 2001 the decision was made to convert to organic farming methods. A further 100 cows were added to the existing herd to increase milk quantities for the production of organic Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.

In 2002 Fausto and Marina acquired another farm on the hills overlooking Parma at Il Corno di Medesano, so production has again increased. They closely monitor every aspect of the cheese production and deal directly with the marketing and sales of their cheese worldwide, appearing at various trade shows and competitions.

July 2004 saw the inauguration of the new production unit on the farm in Vischeto.

In November 2004 parmabio won the National "Bio Caseus" Award in Rome for best organic cheese over 1 year old.

Strict national and european regulations apply to both organic farms which are also monitored by the Parmigiano Reggiano consortium ( Consorzio Del Parmigiano Reggiano ) and ICEA Italy Organic Certification. In addition every effort is made to safeguard tradition in the making of organic Parmigiano Reggiano and through parmabio Fausto and Marina's aim is to continue to re-introduce products with traditional flavours for which the province of Parma has long been famous.
